Track VII

Applications of Cutting-Edge Technologies and Business Models for Virtual Power Plants
“虚拟电厂前沿技术及商业模式应用”

Under the global “Dual Carbon” strategic goals and the accelerated construction of the electricity market, virtual power plants (VPPs), as the core aggregation carrier of distributed resources on the demand side, have become crucial to activating the value of distributed resources and facilitating the absorption of new energy through the R&D of cutting-edge technologies and the implementation of business models. However, VPPs are confronted with numerous prominent challenges in technological application and market adaptation: at the technical level, the interweaving of time-of-use electricity price fluctuations in the spot market and the uncertainty of renewable energy output, coupled with the massive and scattered characteristics of distributed resources, has led to bottlenecks in VPPs' core technologies such as accurate prediction and dynamic aggregation, affecting the efficiency of optimal control; at the business model level, the existing market rules are insufficiently compatible with VPPs. Since their operation relies heavily on users' electricity consumption data, balancing market competition risks, user privacy protection and data security has become a key factor restricting their large-scale application. These issues urgently need to be addressed through technological innovation and model optimization, and they are also the core topics that need to be focused on in the field of VPPs' cutting-edge technologies and business model applications. This special issue focuses on the key scientific issues and technical bottlenecks in the application of VPPs' cutting-edge technologies and business models, and sincerely welcomes and encourages submissions of innovative achievements related to relevant research topics. We invite all units in the industry to actively share original research, engineering practices and review papers in the above common technical directions, so as to jointly promote industry technical exchanges and achievement transformation.
